School CIO Kicks Off
School CIO began as a print newsletter two years ago in response to two realities: the increasing stature of chief information officers and chief technology officers in K–12 school districts and the lack of content tailored for this unique audience. Plenty of media outlets catered to CIOs in the business world; not so for their education counterparts. With this in mind, we set out to provide practical strategies for K–12 technology leaders, from developing NCLB-friendly data architectures to realigning IT spending in the face of limited funding. Reader response was phenomenal, and we were named “Best Newsletter” by the American Society of Business Publication Editors.
Online, School CIO’s mission remains the same. But now, we can offer information more frequently—and more of it. Look for weekly features on IT trends to watch for (see Matt Villano’s “The Case for Outsourced Security”), interviews with district IT leaders on governance, data management, and other issues, and daily news from CMP Media’s TechWeb network. For headlines delivered to your desktop, be sure to sign up for our biweekly newsletter.
As always, your opinions and feedback are welcome—this is, after all, your community. Send your ideas, rants, and tips to email@example.com.
