San Diego SD chooses new reading comprehension programs

The San Diego Unified School District has chosen to add SkatekidsOnline and the companion program Ramps to Reading to its early literacy and reading comprehension programs.

Ramps to Reading, designed for pre-K through 1st grade, develops the cognitive and pre-literacy skills that help young children become better readers. Skatekids helps young learners in grades 3-6 become critical thinkers in addition to sharpening their reading skills.

The district was looking for an online learning solution that would improve reading comprehension, and Skatekids and Ramps met their criteria. The fully adaptive programs feature games and activities that can be tailored to help individual students improve their reading skills at their own pace. The only required software is a web browser, making it easy and cost-effective for the school district to implement these programs
