Data goes global: Report from IMS Global Learning Consortium
December 8,2010

This past November, the IMS Global Learning Consortium held its quarterly meeting at Lone Star College north of Houston, TX. The Global Learning Resource Connection (GLRC) is a public/private global collaboration formed with the goal of linking education resources internationally. IMS members and affiliates met for several days to discuss ways to work toward sharing data globally, most importantly the issue of how to make these global systems interoperable.

??On the afternoon of November 17, School CIO attended the GLRC Workshop, featuring panelists Steve Midgley (Deputy Director, US Department of Education), John Wilson (Executive Director, National Education Association), David Massart (Senior Software Architect, European Schoolnet), William Durham (Associate Vice Chancellor, Lone Star College Online), and Diny Golder (Executive Director of JES & Co). ??Before this event, many of these panelists sat down to talk with managing editor Christine Weiser to discuss their thoughts on the National Educational Technology Plan, Common Core Standards, Web 3.0, the need for open systems, and much more. Below are video highlights from these interviews (read more in the January issue of Tech & Learning)
