Houston district chooses Xiotech’s Emprise 7000 for data storage
May 27,2009

The Galena Park Independent School District in Houston recently selected Xiotech’s Emprise 7000 storage system for its data center and has had it in production since February.  The district chose the Emprise 7000 system primarily for its self-healing capabilities and its superior performance and scalability.  In addition, the ICON Manager tool – especially its Virtual View capability for managing virtual storage in virtualized server environments – has provided much easier overall provisioning and management of storage.

“Creating a server and switching data over used to take us at least a day and a half,” said Kathy Brownlee, coordinator of technical services for Galena Park ISD.  “Now it takes just one or two hours, and when that’s done, everything runs so much faster now too.”

The district houses the Emprise 7000 system at its headquarters and is currently working to set up the replication of its data to two off-site locations for disaster recovery purposes.
