The Texas Department of Information Resources has awarded a Cisco telecommunications networking contract to CDW Government LLC (CDW-G). Under its contract with the Texas DIR, CDW-G will provide Cisco data communication and telecommunications networking equipment and services to Texas state and local agencies, K-12 schools and colleges and universities. With the contract, Texas agencies will have access to more than 1,000 networking, memory, data storage and power protection products and related services. The contract is renewable annually until 2014.
In a similar move, Virginia Information Technologies Agency has granted a server contract to CDW-G. Under the two-year contract, CDW-G will provide HP tower, rack and blade servers; server-related peripherals; and system software and related services to Virginia state and local agencies, K-12 schools and colleges and universities. CDW-G will also provide associated services, including custom configuration, imaging and asset tagging.
“With these contracts, Texas
and Virginia agencies and schools can take advantage of technologies
that save staff time and improve delivery of IT services to staff and
citizens,” said David Hutchins, director of state and local government sales for CDW-G. "Ultimately, employees will have more time and better resources to complete essential functions.”
Through the contracts, CDW-G will be able to offer Texas and Virginia agencies additional services to support and enhance the technology, including asset tagging, onsite installation, warranty protection and solution assessment and design.
