With 13 sites up to 12 miles apart, wireless mobility in a cost-effective solution was a necessity for Madison School District in Rexburg, Idaho. After carefully reviewing several competing Wi-Fi solutions, the district chose Xirrus’ Wi-Fi Arrays for their coverage, manageability, and reliability with fewer devices.

Ed Kirkpatrick, Instructional Technology Director at Madison School District, explained that he contacted employees at BYU-Idaho-- which had adopted Xirrus as its wireless infrastructure – and was impressed with the feedback.

“We wanted to ‘future proof’ our investment as much as possible by finding a solution that would allow students and teachers to use whatever Wi-Fi enabled device they might have - be it a laptop, smart phone or even an iPad,” continued Kirkpatrick.”Since the Xirrus deployment, the laptop carts in the high school are regularly checked out and used in classrooms very successfully.”

Kirkpatrick added that the smaller number of access points required and their independent capabilities, as well as the district-wide management capabilities, have all contributed to the success of the new system.
